Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Gmatchy collects when you use the Gmatchy mobile app and gmatchy.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. In this policy, "Gmatchy", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs Gmatchy. If you have any question about it, write to contact@gmatchy.com.

What we collect

When you create an account

Your phone number, if you sign in with your phone.
Your name and email address, if you sign in with Google. We only use them to create your account and sign you in.
A sign-in identifier from Firebase Authentication, which we use to recognise your account.

Your profile and preferences

Your display name, age (we store it as your birth year), gender, nationality and the languages you speak.
A profile photo, if you add one.
The games you like, your budget preference, and a home location and address you choose.

Games you host or join

For games you host: the game, date, time, café name and address, its location on the map, player limits, language, budget and any notes you write.
Your requests to join games, whether they were accepted, and the games you save.

Your device's location

If you allow location access, the app sends your approximate location (rounded to about 100 metres) with your request for nearby games, so we can show how far each game is and filter by distance. We use it to answer that request and don't save it to your profile. You can turn location access off at any time in your phone's settings; the app still works without it.

Notifications

A push notification token for your device, so we can send you notifications.
A history of the notifications we sent you, and whether you've read them.

Technical data

Our servers record basic technical information with each request, such as your IP address, app version, device type and the time of the request. We use it to keep the service secure and to fix problems.

How we use your data

To create your account and keep you signed in.
To show you games near you and let you host, join and manage games.
To show hosts who wants to join their game, and to show players who they'll be playing with.
To send you notifications about your games, such as a new join request, an accepted request, or a game starting or being cancelled.
To keep Gmatchy safe, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Use.

We don't sell your personal data, we don't show ads, and we don't use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

What other players can see

Other Gmatchy users can see your display name, profile photo, nationality and languages when you host a game, ask to join one, or are part of a game with them. Games you host, including the café, address and time, are visible to everyone using Gmatchy so that people can find and join them. Your phone number and email address are never shown to other users.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run Gmatchy. They process data only on our behalf:

Google Firebase, for sign-in (phone and Google) and for delivering push notifications.
Google Maps Platform, for maps and address search when you choose a café.
OVHcloud, which hosts our servers and database.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public. These providers may process data outside the United Arab Emirates. When they do, we rely on their contractual and security commitments to protect it.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Server logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Profile and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, profile, preferences, saved games, join requests, notifications and your sign-in account. If you can't access the app, email contact@gmatchy.com from the address or phone number linked to your account and we'll delete it for you.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Most of your profile can be edited directly in the app. For anything else, email contact@gmatchy.com and we'll reply within 30 days.

Children

Gmatchy is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has created an account, email contact@gmatchy.com and we'll delete it.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS), sign-in is handled by Firebase, and access to our servers is restricted. No system is completely secure, so please tell us at contact@gmatchy.com if you notice anything wrong.

This website

gmatchy.com doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. Our web server logs basic request data as described above.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and tell you in the app. Using Gmatchy after a change means you accept the updated policy.

This policy is also available in العربية. If the two versions differ, the English version applies.
